Did you know that Keith Urban enjoys writing songs in the shower?

Keith Urban, a singer, songwriter, and a guitarist loves and enjoys writing songs in the shower. He at least comes up with ideas while getting sudsy, but maybe he used to write lyrics into the steam on the shower doors --who knows?

More recently, he's taken to writing in a natural light-flooded room downstairs in the home that Keith and Nicole Kidman own in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee. It's an old farmhouse that inspires the father of two's creativity in his 40's. The singer always writes in pen - never pencil, and never on a computer. "I can't type fast enough," he says.

Keith Lionel Urban (born 26 October 1967) is a New Zealand-born and Australian-raised country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist. When he was 2 years old, his parents moved the family to Caboolture, Queensland, Australia, where his career eventually began. He decided he wanted a music career at a young age, and learned how to play the guitar at the age of six.

While working on the album, Urban maintained a disciplined morning routine. "My wife and I like to wake up really early-even before Sunday was born-at 5 or 6. I'll have a cup of coffee, work out and then, when the endorphins are going, I like to start writing," Urban says. Song writing is much more effective for Keith in the shower because he can come up with great ideas of lyrics and enjoys doing it.

Urban’s reputation as a songwriter, musician, vocalist and virtuoso guitarist is no more evident than when he is onstage. His electrifying concerts have played to sold-out venues from Australia to Germany, England to Canada and the United States. In fact, 2009’s Escape Together World Tour, as well as 2007’s Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy World Tour, were both, one of the top grossing tours for their respective years. As one journalist put it, “Urban is one of the best reasons in the world to attend a live concert.”

2013 is poised to be another spectacular year for Urban, who has already celebrated the success of a sold-out Australian Arena tour and received his first Golden Globe Award nomination for his song “For You”, his initial foray writing specifically for a motion picture. A performance with the Rolling Stones and at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Concerts, combined with Urban’s 4th annual “All 4 The Hall Benefit Concert” performing alongside “Rebels and Renegades” Willie Nelson, Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Kris Kristofferson, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw and Eric Church, amongst others, has further solidified the respect that Urban has received as a musician and player.

Keith Urban Quote about Songwriting:

"Songs are like children in that you have your differences like the brainy one & the delinquent one, but you love them all the same."
