"Forbidden Songs" is what they call Shakira's records in Argentina in the year 2002. Refusing to sell albums of the epic artist Shakira in protest of the appearance of Antonio de la Rua in her video "Underneath Your Clothes", who happened to be Shakira's boyfriend. De la Rua is the son of the former Argentina president Fernando de la Rua. The said president tendered his resignation in December 2001 in the midst of profound economic and political turmoil in the country.
De la Rua's inclusion in Shakira's video has caused a stir in the local media. This is due to the fact that Antonio de la Rua is his father's closest advisor. Tower Records Argentina's spokesperson said the decision to bann her albums had been taken in protest against De la Rua and not against the pop star Shakira.
